I do women's work, and I think it matters. I say this a lot, because I feel it's important that quilting, sewing, and needlework be seen as equal to other forms of artwork. Although quilting (and needlecrafts in general) were previously a vital aspect of daily life, which also gave the makers an outlet for personal expression, somewhere along the way, crafts like these became less vital and thus brushed aside. But our stitches are our paint strokes, and equally valid as an artform, as is any skill that is traditionally seen as "women's work" - this work matters.
